Brunswick, MD – Feb. 9, 2019 – The Own It Company announces its grand opening in downtown Brunswick as the first coworking space in southern Frederick County and the County’s only coworking space situated in an Opportunity Zone, Enterprise Zone, and HUBZone. Located in the 100+-year-old Horine Building that formerly housed the town’s pharmacy and soda fountain, Own It joins Cowork Frederick, Maryland Bakes, and the FITCI technology incubator in offering collaborative workspace as a key part of economic growth and redevelopment.
The Own It Company’s founder, Carmella Smith-Swafford, describes the benefits of co-working as “providing a secure, affordable option for teleworkers and entrepreneurs—whether just starting out or established—to access a professional-level office environment while benefitting from the community, collaboration, and encouragement that keeps you inspired and engaged.”
Own It will share the ceremony with three cornerstone businesses: Charis Realty Group, Go2s, and John Canan Photography. Charis owner Christy Issler, thinks of Brunswick as a “special treasure to the county” and embraces coworking as keeping with Charis’—recently named a “Best of the Best” in real estate—core value of community service.
For Mehdi Tehranchi, founder of the Go2s private social networking app, Own It is his company’s first “bricks-and-mortar” location.” He sees Own It and Brunswick as “the perfect places to create a community-driven social network” and cites the additional benefits of locating within an Opportunity, Enterprise, and HUBZone. “Being downtown is a win-win.
